APPLICATIONS
5MR
Monohydrate, also called Orcinol, is a reagent for detection of aromatic
aldehydes and of carbohydrates. Used as 0,55% solution in acidified EtOH with
0,9% ferric chloride, Bial's reagent, for detn. of sugars, glycosides and
sulpholipids.
5-MR is most valuable raw material for derivatizing into:
